Kathleen Marshall’s debut as children’s commissioner got off to an auspicious start (page six). The hallowed halls of the Edinburgh International Conference Centre rang to praises for her new job and for her good self.

Her mantra of being inclusive struck a chord. It was a pity therefore that the conference title referred to “the Scottish Children’s Commissioner”.

What? Only Scottish weans? Not so. The commissioner wishes to be known as “the Children’s Commissioner for Scotland”.
