Wendy Alexander, former Lifelong Learning Minister and Paisley MSP, was revealing all - but not in a Janet Jackson sense - when she addressed the New Directions launch (page one).

Alexander admits she is a changed woman since leaving the Scottish Executive to spend more time with husband Brian Ashcroft of Strathclyde University, where she is a visiting professor. At the age of 40, she is discovering the joys of domesticated bliss after her surprise festive season wedding.
