Why Blair is a comic genius

Last week’s edition of Channel 4‘s satirical show Bremner, Bird and Fortune featured a sketch about city academies. The dialogue between Bird and Fortune seemed so well-researched that rumours have been flying around that The TES’s own satirical genius Ted Wragg, who is a mate of Bremner’s, had a hand it.

The Diary asked him. “The answer is yes and no,” he said. “Yes, I do write stuff for Rory Bremner. I wrote the Boris Johnson apology thing, for example. But no, I did not write this. Bird and Fortune write their own stuff. The thing about that sketch was that it was really a list of facts.

There was no exaggeration. Satire, nowadays, is just a matter of reading out the Government press release and people fall about laughing.”
