The role of media studies in A Curriculum for Excellence will be explored at a conference next month, where one of the world’s leading researchers into media literacy, Andrew Burn of London University’s Institute of Education, will give a keynote speech.
“Multimodal literacy” will be the theme of the annual conference of the Association for Media Education in Scotland, which will be held in Edinburgh on May 23.
Teachers can attend three workshops from a choice of 13, including sessions on teaching media in English, moving-image literacy, radio production, using MP3 players in the classroom, reading images and Chinese cinema.
