(Photograph) - World first: it’s not often that claim is made, but Todholm Primary, Paisley, played host last week to the global launch of a palm vein scanner.

It claims to make cashless catering a reality and is said to be superior to other recognition systems because it cannot be used for any other purpose.

It is installed by the Amey group, which is providing support to Renfrewshire schools under the council’s pound;100 million PPP contract
