A Scottish secondary school has more than done its bit to raise spirits this Christmas with a music video featuring dozens of staff and students sending messages to anyone who is feeling lonely.
Sending You a Smile This Christmas has been inspired by the Tes Classrooms to Care Homes campaign (#classroomstocarehomes), which has encouraged pupils to send festive messages to residents in care homes.

The four-minute video, from Alva Academy in Clackmannanshire, is dedicated to everyone who might need a lift as 25 December approaches. A message at the end reads: “For all who are alone, for those who have lost or for those who simply need one this Christmas...”
The school’s efforts have won high praise from near and far. One YouTube comment from Alaska said that it was, “So thoughtful of you.”
A teacher from another secondary school tweeted: “This is absolutely stunning!! Such a wonderful idea!” And Lornshill Academy, another secondary school in Clackmannanshire, tweeted: “Well done to everyone involved! This is beautiful!”
Thousands of children across the UK have (with some help, of course, from their teachers) been making cards, writing letters, putting together hampers, starring in videos and painting pictures for older people this Christmas, as part of the Classrooms to Care Homes campaign.
It was launched in November, with the aim of bringing schools and care home residents together at a time when many older people are suffering from isolation and loneliness.
Thousands of schools took up the challenge to make Christmas brighter for care home residents.
