Cambridge issues IGCSE and O-level results to 315,000 students

International school students in 144 countries around the world received their Cambridge IGCSE and O-level results today.

Overall, more than 5,000 schools entered 315,000 students for the exams this year. There were 757,000 entries for IGCSEs - up 3 per cent on 2025 - and 231,100 for O levels, up 2 per cent on last year.

Cambridge said its most popular subjects for IGCSE were mathematics, physics, first language English, chemistry and biology, while for O level the most popular was English language, followed by mathematics, Pakistan studies, Islamiyat and Urdu as a second language

The exams body also touted the fact that entries for Cambridge Global Perspectives rose by 9 per cent, arguing that this shows growing demand for new types of qualifications that mix skills such as critical thinking, research and communication.

Rod Smith, group managing director for international education at Cambridge, congratulated students on their results.

“We are proud to celebrate our Cambridge IGCSE and O-level learners worldwide today, and to thank all the teachers and families who supported them,” he said.

“As you get ready for the next stage of your education, take a moment to reflect on everything you have achieved.”

The results come a week after Cambridge issued its International A-level and AS-level results, with just under 368,000 students in nearly 3,500 international schools receiving those results.

As with the IGCSE results today, some of those students had their exams cancelled because of the war in the Middle East, meaning they instead completed their qualifications using a mix of coursework and teacher assessments.

Cambridge’s June exam series also marked the first time that exams were delivered on screen across various subjects.
