As Head of Primary, I encourage and develop the ability in teachers to inspire and motivate students of mix-ability and those with diverse cultural background. We can achieve addressing mix-ability by assessing students to establish a baseline upon which we can build together; from there, lesson-plans can be differentiated to address the needs to each student. Further, in international schooling context it is critical classrooms are an environment where students of all races feel trusted and respected. I feel this would help them explore and to take risks in their learning.
I emphasise during most CPDs that it is essential teaching and learning does not take place purely theoretically and in isolation from its practical application. It is in this way students can relate their learning from theory to practice. This process further enables the internalisation of learning in order to contextualise academic theoretical analogies with its application and implementation into practice.
