1,200 education jobs cut since CSR

About 1,200 staff who provide vital central services to schools, including 400 teachers, have been made redundant since the comprehensive spending review in October, a teaching union says. The NASUWT says it would normally receive reports of just two or three redundancy notices over a similar period in other years. It comes just weeks after The TES revealed how services provided through local authorities, such as educational psychology, would be the first to go as the Government makes huge cutbacks.
