The 157 Group has now signed up four new members since completing its strategic review

South Staffordshire College and South Thames College have joined the 157 Group of colleges, becoming the organisation's third and fourth new members to have signed up since the start of 2016.

Their addition brings the overall number of 157 Group members to 30, after City College Plymouth joined last week and Cardiff and Vale College signed up in January. Both South Staffordshire College and South Thames College were graded good in their most recent Ofsted inspections

'We couldn't be happier'

Ian Pretty, chief executive of the 157 Group, said: “We couldn’t be happier to start working with South Staffordshire College and South Thames College. Their expertise and enthusiasm for effective skills provision make the 157 Group a stronger voice for both our members and the further education sector.”

South Staffordshire principal Graham Morley, whose college has been shortlisted for the 2016 TES FE Awards for the outstanding use of technology category, said: “We are delighted to be joining the 157 Group.  As a business-facing organisation we are committed to connecting with similar organisations who share our vision, values and principles. We are looking forward to making a significant contribution to the work of this group for the benefit of those we serve."

Sue Rimmer, principal of  South Thames College, said: “South Thames College is extremely pleased that our good work has been recognised by such an important organisation, and we are looking forward to working closely with the 157 Group.”
