The 1996 TES ScotlandSaltire Society award for the best book aimed at the Scottish curriculum was presented last night to the Scottish Consultative Committee on the Curriculum and Nelson Blackie for The KistA’Chiste, a 160-page anthology of Scots and Gaelic literature (Pounds 6.50).

The Kist Teacher’s Pack includes a teacher’s handbook, copymasters and four audio cassettes (Pounds 70). Commended were Hodder and Stoughton for Scotland’s Changing Landscapes and Shouting It Out; Scottish Chil- dren’s Press for Children’s Classic Games; and Addison Wesley, Longman for A Sense of History.
