New teachers were needed, not only because schools were more concerned with the less able, but because educationists were now aware of the unplumbed depths in all children, and the variety of their personalities and interests.
Until honours can be taken in the BEd degree, the BEd course will not draw the brightest students. Indeed it will be the duty of the colleges to advise the bright students away from the degree, said Mr James Scotland, principal of Aberdeen College of Education.
