A CHEMISTRY teacher accused of abducting and indecently assaulting a 15-year old pupil has been acquitted after the girl said she loved him but that they had only ever kissed and cuddled. Michael Edson, 31, a teacher at Wyke Manor Upper School in Bradford, had a six-month relationship with Rachel Russell, now 16, and the couple ran away to London in October last year. They turned themselves in to the police after two days. The prosecution offered no further evidence after Rachel said it had been her idea to run away. Judge Rodney Grant directed the jury to acquit Mr Edson, who was supported by his union, the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers.
