Absence pays

Impecunity lives on. At a meeting last week with the Clackmannan directorate, Cameron Munro, Scotland's "Mr Attendance", was exhorting the council to work in collaboration with the Scottish Initiative on Attendance and Absence.

When Jim Goodall, Clackmannan's head of educational development, got down to the thorny subject of what Munro's services would cost, he was quoted Pounds 400 for the day.

Sandy Wilson, a fellow directorate member, responded: "Could you do 10-minute segments?"
