Abuse case director dies

Bridgend’s education director, who was criticised in the Clywch inquiry into child abuse at a South Wales school, has died. David Matthews, 56, joined Bridgend as director in 1996. Keri Lewis, the council’s chief executive, said: “At all times he showed himself to be totally dedicated to the young people of the county borough. He was a true professional and will be greatly missed.”
