Drawing, like writing, has its grammar and conventions. Tubal Cain (named after the wondrous metal-worker in Genesis) has reissued his classic exposition, Workshop Drawing. Taking into account the needs of model makers, the book provides two complementary services. It elucidates the customary devices used by engineers in the portrayal of sections, dimensions and the interlocking of machine parts, including out-of-date expedients to be found in old books and blueprints. He also shows how to make new drawings. Advice ranges from the sharpening of pencils (conical or chisel point?) to converting imperial into metric.
