Adult literacy body criticises Ofsted

Ofsted has been accused of failing to distinguish between young children and adult learners in a report about literacy. Removing Barriers to Literacy found that phonics was being used effectively in primary schools, but not with older learners. The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education said Ofsted was not addressing the “very different literacy challenges” required.
