Claire Droney has been working with people with autism since 2004. First, as a special class teacher and then as an advisory teacher for children with autism in mainstream schools.

Autistic researcher and author, Temple Grandin, has written about how she ‘thinks in pictures’. When she hears a word, Ms Grandin’s brain works like Google Images to pull up ‘beautiful, precise pictures’.

Many people with autism have a strong visual processing senses, and learn best when visual supports are used.

In this video, we look at some quick ways of making whole-class lessons more visually appealing and thus more memorable and clear for our students with autism.
