A GROUP of adult students who took part in a framing and gilding course in London were soon to discover the world of adult learning is not always paved with gold.
The story of what happened when they signed up for a three-term course in Westminster has taken the shine off the Government’s glowing rhetoric about the value of lifelong learning.
Eight people signed up for the course providd by the Westminster Adult Education Service.
But lo, what adult education giveth, adult education taketh away.
They returned for their third term, having bought gold leaf and materials at around pound;100 each, only to be told the last term was cancelled due to lack of student numbers.
But worry not. One thing that did go ahead during the third term was Adult Learners’ Week.
