Robbie Paulin (of Inverness Blitz) has taken over as coach to the Scotland development squad. Charlie Ewing, who has been key to the development of American football in Scotland in recent years, is taking a back seat.

Mr Ewing, who has co-ordinated the youth and junior programme, including flag football, the non-contact introductory game, and coached the Scotland development squad and the Great Britain Lions, has cited mounting work commitments as his reason for giving up.

Trials for this year’s squad will be held at Forthbank Stadium in Stirling tomorrow. The focal point of the season will be the traditional fixture with England, to be held in November.
