We noted with interest the results of the research your reporter Elaine Williams had undertaken, together with the observations she had received from four GCSE examining groups (TES, March 8).

It is unfortunate that the picture is incomplete. The Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) also conducts GCSE examinations both in Wales and, increasingly, in England and its views might therefore have usefully been sought.
