(Photograph) - The Archbishop of Canterbury paid a visit to Sheffield College this week as the Church of England plans to build a closer relationship with further education. Dr Rowan Williams met students, including Hafeez Rahman, at Hillsborough College, one of three under the Sheffield College banner, and heard about its multi-faith activities and chaplaincy work. Dr Williams is due to speak to the National Ecumenical Agency in Further Education in January, contributing to the debate on the entitlement of FE students to spiritual and moral education, as school sixth-formers are. John Taylor, the college principal, said: “I believe it is the responsibility of the college to create opportunities to hear from national leaders about the issues affecting faith and young people today.” Photograph: James GlossopGuzelian
