Concerned about sponsorship and advertising on educational websites? Encyclopaedia Britannica now has pop-up adverts for the US Army on its website, highlighting all the money available for study: “Up to $20,000 in enlistment bonuses, to use toward anything you like, including furthering your education, and up to $50,000 for collegeI” Sounds fairly attractive when you think of UK students leaving college pound;15,000 in debt. Besides offering reference materials and subscriptions, the site also raises the issue of advertising and sponsorship on education websites.
