When I read “The art of inspiration”, I remembered the days when we used to go on “twilight courses” after school. These allowed us to learn more about subjects that we were not responsible for, so that we could deliver a broad curriculum.
We also had “spotlights”, when schools opened their doors to visiting teachers to share ideas.
As soon aswe had the national curriculum, then the literacy and numeracy strategies, the only courses we could go on were those for which we were subject leaders - this meant we spread the word!
Teachers got a lot out of those old courses, and the children in turn benefited from their breadth of knowledge.
