The ‘Arts of Korea’ exhibition at the British Museum is the forerunner of a permanent gallery at the museum, supported by the Korea Foundation. Among the exhibits, which range from the Neolithic period to the 19th century, is a 5th 6th century magnificently ornamented royal gold crown from the Silla kingdom on loan from the National Museum of Korea; a 14th century illuminated manuscript of the Amitabha Sutra demonstrating the elegance of Koryo Buddhist painting; Celadon teabowls, wine ewers, hair-oil bottles and vases; Real Place landscape paintings from the 18th century; and rice bowls and screens from the Choson dynasty. Associated events include lectures,gallery tours and Korean music and dance (October 12, 3pm).
