Among the first on the Net will be companies across Glasgow who as a group have already received the necessary hardware, software and training to produce their own pages. The first should be up and running in the next couple of weeks, as the result of a project developed by the city council’s department of performing arts.
The project is being monitored by the Scottish Arts Council with a view to developing a nationwide scheme. The man doing the monitoring is Iwan Williams who, in addition to training arts groups in Glasgow, has been touring the country with the SAC’s New Directions roadshow. While the main roadshow offered information to arts and education groups about grants now available for new work, arts in education projects, and the development of talent, Williams has been discussing arts on the Net.
TES Scotland is also offering arts companies on the Net the chance to reach a wider audience through its own electronic pages. Interested organisations can find The TES Internet edition at https:www.tes.co.uk, and should e-mail their Internet addresses to Sean Coughlan.
