Assisted Places Scheme

A Government defeat in the Lords on the Bill to abolish the Assisted Places Scheme was called a case of privilege defending privilege by David Blunkett, the Education and Employment Secretary. The amendment giving funding of the places to the age of 13 was overturned in the Commons.
