Claims that an autistic boy was being taught in a cupboard have been strongly rejected by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Parents said their 10-year-old was separated from the rest of the class and taught in a 4ft by 12ft cupboard at Castle Douglas primary. A council spokesman said the interim resource base was 12m by 4m, the same size as the Pounds 50,000 temporary building which is due to act as an additional learning centre and time-out base.
Dumfries and Galloway said the boy’s parents had been made aware that he was being taught in the interim base and had a dedicated teacher and auxiliary available to help him.
