Brian Keachie of Greenwood Academy in Dreghorn, Irvine, North Ayrshire, is the 2002 Yamaha Scottish Instrumental Teacher of the Year. Children, parents and colleagues from Scottish state schools nominated 45 outstanding teachers from whom 17 area winners were selected to go forward to the final. Brian Keachie will use his pound;2,000 prize to further his professional development.
