DEFENCE EVALUATION AND RESEARCH AGENCY

Students about to begin a degree in mathematics, science or engineering are invited to apply for a three-year scholarship of pound;1,000 per year. Vacation work and year-out placements with DERA are also offered. Applicants are required to submit a short piece by June 30 demonstrating their interest in technology and DERA. ENGLISH-SPEAKING UNION

Professionally qualified school librarians in Britain are invited to apply, by June 5, for an ESU award covering return flight to Dallas, Texas, two weeks of home hospitality and the chance to visit Washington DC or New York. The aim is to strengthen international understanding. MENSA QUEST

This monthly family magazine, combining “intelligent features and Mensa-supplied puzzles”, was launched on March 25. It is offering eight student bursaries of pound;1,000 each as a contribution towards university academic fees, which were introduced for the first time this year.
