Georgina enjoyed a meteoric rise up the career ladder when she became head of department within three years of starting her job at a south Wales secondary, and was promoted to head of faculty two years later.

But although she knew she was good at her job, there was resentment among her 32 staff.

Georgina, who is now 34, and teaches economics, business and basic skills, said: “I knew there was a lot of backstabbing and the fact I was so young and in such a senior post was causing problems.

“I didn’t know who to turn to because I did not want to look weak. I felt very isolated.

“After six months of being thoroughly miserable I knew I had to do something about it.”

She contacted the support line and now advises colleagues who look miserable or upset to do the same. “It was the best thing I ever did,” she said.
