A BBC job beckons for an anonymous pupil at Castleford high school in West Yorkshire.

The enterprising teenager filmed dramatic footage of a fire that destroyed the school’s sports hall earlier this month, then posted it within hours on the video-sharing website YouTube.

The pupil has been urging other witnesses to contact police, who are investigating whether the fire was arson.

From comments on the website, most of the local students appear angry and upset about the fire, in which flames rose as high as 75 feet.

But a few less athletic pupils have been unable to hide their glee at getting out of sport.

“We go back on Monday,” one student wrote. “No PE, though. YESSSS!”
