Bank chief joins the DfES

Ian Taylor has been appointed the first director of the new centre for procurement performance, at the Department for Education and Skills. Mr Taylor is currently head of procurement at the HBOS bank, and president of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

He starts in May and aims to identify huge potential savings in the department’s budget.
