Baroness Elizabeth Berridge has been appointed parliamentary under secretary of state in the Department for Education.

The 47-year-old was appointed a government whip in July 2019, and sits on the Conservative benches in the House of Lords.

She studied law at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and undertook barrister’s training at the Inns of Court School of Law in London. 

Sources also confirmed this morning that Lord Agnew has left his post of academies minister.

Yesterday it was revealed that education secretary Gavin Williamson and schools minister Nick Gibb were keeping their jobs at the DfE.

Michelle Donelan has also been promoted to minister of state in the DfE. She was previously parliamentary under secretary, and assisted Gavin Williamson with the FE brief.

Individual ministerial responsibilities are yet to be revealed.
