Scottish Schools Basketball Open Cup holder Marr College, which has won a record 20 national boys’ cups over the years, has been given a home draw to open its defence of the cup.

The Troon school has been given a bye into the second round and will face the winner of the first round tie between Monifeith High and Westhill Academy.

The first round draw is: Graeme HS v Mearns Castle HS, Hillhead HS v International School Aberdeen, Monifeith HS v Westhill Acad, Gryffe HS v Grantown GS and Currie HS v Denny HS.

The second round draw is: Arbroath HS v Belmont Acad, St Ninian’s HS v Portobello HS, Queen Anne HS v St Andrews HS, Gleniffer HS v Graeme HS or Mearns Castle HS, Gryffe HS or Grantown GS v Hillhead HS or International School Aberdeen, Johnstone HS v Lourdes Sec, Marr Coll v Monifeith HS or Westhill Acad and Currie HS or Denny HS v Williamwood HS.

The ties are to be played by December 20. The final has been set for Bell’s Sports Centre in Perth on March 18.
