Forget good reports or gold stars - rewards for top behaviour at a Bath school are sky high.

Two pupils literally had their heads in the clouds after a hair-raising treat to celebrate an excellent year at The Link, a special school for excluded children aged four to 16.

Ben Anderson, 14, and Anton Rogers, also 14, are now feeling on top of the world after their 45-minute trip in a four-seater single engine aircraft.

A member of staff came up with the idea after having a trial flying lesson at Bristol Aviation, which then agreed to help the school.

Vicky Tucker, the school’s assistant headteacher, said the flight was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a “true reward”.

“The school has a behaviour policy based around co-operation and respect,” she said. “We believe all behaviour can be taught and that through an ethos of co-operation and respect, strong relationships can be forged.

Pilot Pete Gillett said: “We agreed to offer the trip free of charge to the school as we thought it would be great to give these young people the opportunity to go up in a plane and have a go.” km.
