A primary head sent begging letters to local people to raise money to redecorate Holme primary, in Headley, Hampshire.

Helena Rees, 40, wrote to businesses asking for contributions towards the pound;11,000 repair bill. She put in pound;1,000 of her own money but was criticised by a parish councillor who said school buildings were the local authority’s responsibility.
