A health trust report into a Belfast nursery which is already at the centre of a police investigation has made 46 recommendations for changes that should be made.

A member of staff at Knightsbridge Day Care - a nursery and after-school centre in south Belfast - was suspended last September following allegations from other employees about her work.

The report, by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, recommends that staff are banned from carrying mobile phones with cameras and that at least one member of staff is skilled in child protection training.

It also highlighted that there were no regular outings for the babies and that children’s dummies were kept in a bag and not labelled.

There are currently 14 children aged three to five in the nursery, and 35 children aged five to 10 in the after-school programme.

Details about the ages and the number of children involved in the alleged incidents have not been made public.

A police spokeswoman said “a copy of the file is currently with the (Public Prosecution Service) for direction,” but said it would be “inappropriate” to make any further comment. MR.
