Most primary pupils still walk to school, even though nine out of 10 parents worry that they will be hit by a car or abducted.

Research in the London boroughs of Camden and Islington by the Institute of Child Health suggests that children at private schools with further to travel and car-owning parents were more likely to be among the 26 per cent who were driven to school.
