The annual Royal Institution Christmas Lectures take a chilly turn this year with Professor Lloyd Peck from the British Antarctic Survey presenting “To the end of the Earth: Surviving Antarctic Extremes”. During the three lectures, aimed at 14 to 18-year-olds, he will be exploring the science of our most inhospitable continent. The lectures have already sold out, but Channel Four has produced a free CD-Rom which explores and extends the themes featured. It will available free to all schools attending the lecture and a copy will be sent to all secondary schools in England and Wales. Extra copies are also available from the Royal Institution. The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures will be broadcast on Channel 4 on December 27-29 and a video will also be available in 2005.
