A bird in the hand

I am an NQT looking for work for September. My specialism is in early childhood and I want to start my teaching career in a reception class. The problem is, reception jobs in London seem a bit scarce. I’m getting worried that I won’t find a job. Should I hold out for what I want or look at other years?

The old saying about a bird in the hand being worth two in the bush is worth remembering at times like this. Yes, the perfect job may come along, but on the other hand you might miss something else while you are waiting.

I would go for what there is in the present state of the job market. Even in London, jobs are much scarcer than they were a few years ago.
