Blunkett leaves this infected isle

After another arduous term, I taught on a crammer course at Millfield for the first week of my Easter holidays - simply to pay for four days’ respite in Mallorca the following week.

I was greeted by the sight of Herr Blunkett himself climbing the slippery steps of the jet upon which I had alrady embarked.

Why was Mr Blunkett leaving the land of hope and glory in search of sunnier climes, when foot-and-mouth, as the air hostess frequently reminded us, is ravaging our own terrain?

Rhetorical questions - who’d ‘ave ‘em?
