Boost to the economy

Education and training brought in pound;28 billion to the British economy in 2003-04, compared with pound;19bn for financial services, figures from the British Council show. Dr Pamela Lenton of Sheffield University carried out the research. She found the education sector had soared in value from pound;23bn in 2001-02, partly due to growing numbers of international students coming to Britain.
