Boost for minority after-hour classes

UNOFFICIAL schools for ethnic-minority pupils are to receive

pound;1 million from the Government, to support the evening and weekend classes that have been set up by parents.

A new independent body - the upplementary Schools Support Service - will distribute the money and provide advice. A DFEE spokeswoman said pound;1m will go directly to the schools and pound;100,000 will be used to run the support service.
