Pam Stanier nominates Ivor John, a fellow headteacher, and his staff at Gorton Brook MLD special school in Manchester for this week’s Waitrose hamper. She says the school is due to close on July 2 and that it’s a difficult time for everyone involved, not least because it has been “an excellent and successful” school.

The staff have worked extremely hard, she says, first in opposing the closure and then, when the decision was taken, making sure things ran as smoothly as possible for children, parents and staff. A hamper for the staffroom will, she says, “cheer them up and keep them going”.

The hamper contains a refreshing lemon drink, home-made jams and lemon curd, mouth-watering chocolates and crunchy biscuits. It usually costs pound;46 exclusively from Waitrose Direct Gifts (www.waitrose. com), which delivers to any mainland UK address. For a chance to win one, just tell us why you and your colleagues deserve it. Send your message, marked Waitrose offer, by email or postcard to the address on the right.
