The School Improvement Network has just published a contact list and directory of projects or special areas of interest to enable its 600 members to draw on each others’ experience.
The network, based at the University of London Institute of Education, includes members from Cornwall to Cleveland. Many are primary and secondary teachers, heads or deputy heads in the thick of practical school improvement. The network also includes members in higher education and 40 local authorities.
The contact list is circulated annually to all members and the SIN publishes a termly bulletin with news and tips on school improvement, focusing particularly on individual schools’ efforts.
Members also receive a regular summary of research into important school improvement topics and privileged access to events and conferences at the London Institute.
The network also holds a termly meeting. This term’s, on “LEAs and School Improvement”, takes place in Bath on July 1. Professor Margaret Maden of Keele University will be the keynote speaker.
Annual membership is open to individuals (Pounds 35), schools (Pounds 55) and projects involving several schools (Pounds 160-Pounds 300 depending on the number of schools) and local authorities (Pounds 400 covering more than 30 schools).
