We note with interest the curmedgeonly comments in the latest edition of Insider magazine by Peter Jones, Scottish correspondent of the Economist, who suggested that the Scottish Executive's programme "does have its radical elements - the abolition of feudalism, land reform - but the rest of it is dull.

"Worthy and vital maybe, but still dull."

This surely cannot be a reference to the vital national cultural strategy being pursued by Rhona Brankin, the deputy education minister, whose bag includes the arts and who is equally well known as Mrs Peter Jones.
