(Photograph) - AS Bev Elliott crosses the Lancashire-Cumbria border, he is also crossing a salary divide. Mr Elliott, pictured by the banks of the River Lune near the boundary, found the rate for a day's supply teaching differed by pound;30 depending on which authority he worked in. The anomaly is due to confusing government guidelines that mean Lancashire schools pay by the day while those in Cumbria pay by the hour. He is taking the matter up with ministers. News, 4.
