“Libraries are often a weak aspect of (college) provision,” said a recent Chief Inspector’s report. “Many are too small . . . have insufficient study spaces and an inadequate or outdated book stock”. A leaflet entitled the “Library and Learning Resources in Your College”, produced by the Council for Learning Resources in Colleges, includes information on student-centred learning and the role of the library and learning resources service. Notes on how to evaluate the service with a list of further reading and guidelines are included.
