* My “only” child seems quite happy being on her own whether curling up with a literary classic or creating some work of art (“Hidden lives of the only children”, TES, April 21). She also appears quite at home charging around with her friends and having a whale of a time. Obviously all down to the time she’s ignored while her mother reads The TES.
